Capocchia d’u Purpu

Capocchia d’u Purpu (octopus head) beach, on the island of La Maddalena, is located in the east coast of Giardinelli. It takes its name from a suggestive rock that sits there and was smoothed by the wind, which made it look like the head of a giant octopus. Characterized by pastel colors, the beach is made of fine white sand, and it’s framed by many light grey granite rocks. The sea that bathes its shores has a light green color, is very clear and transparent and it looks like a natural swimming pool when there’s lack of wind.
